Poker Awards

The winners will be announced on the 23rd December 2012 at the Deepstack Event in the Grand Hotel Wicklow (Details that were posted yesterday). There will be 5 awards, nothing serious just something small(piece of glass/trophy) and the categories are as follows:

1. Best Poker Venue

Nominees: Star Poker Bray, Kennedy Inn Newtown, Doyles Rathnew, Old Forge Wicklow, Whistlers Wicklow, Jacobs Well Rathdrum, Lynskeys Arklow, Old Ship Arklow.

2. Best Game

Nominees: All as above

3. Best Tournament Player

Nominees: Open Category

4. Best Cash Game Player

Nominees: Open Category

5. Biggest Nit/Luckbox Award

Nominees: Open Category

Nominations can be emailed to wicklowpkrscene@gmail.com with a nomination for each category if you like. I would prefer if you didnt comment as people can see who and what you are voting for. One vote per person per category rules apply. if this is going to be done lets do it right, thats why I have left the last category as a bit of a joke. It is a bit of fun but seeing as nothing like this has happened around Wicklow before, for the first 4 awards im asking for them to be taken serious please.

Anyone who has voted so far, thank you for doing so. For anyone that is not big into the internet I will be sending out nomination forms to the various games so to get your vote.

Ill post the same post every week up to the event, so happy voting and ill also update the details of the deepstack shortly!

Old Ship Arklow Results

Well done to Larry Devereuax who took down last nights game in the Old Ship Arklow. With 12 players, Larry beat Bobby McGee, heads up to prevent Bobby from getting 40 points as a winner 2 weeks in a row. Bobby has had 3 runner up finishes and 1 win in the last 4 weeks. Good going Bob.

Kyle Byrne was 3rd and Craig Ledwith bubbled in 4th. Best hand of the night was Quad Jacks for Reimo Reinpalu. Small cahs game got going after the tournament with 5/6 players.

Tuesday Night Poker

The first game to report is in the Olde Forge Wicklow Town, being run by Trevor Conyard from WicklowPkrScene/Chip & a Chair Poker Events. Week 17 of the league continues tonight.

Kicking off at 8pm, reg from 7.30pm, €30 freezeout (25 plus 5 reg ) Starting stack of 9k, early bird chip of 1000 for anyone in their seat by 8 and an extra 500 if you confirm by text 0868446556.

Best hand before the break tonight gets 5k in chips.

Consistently hits the 20 mark, last week we had 20 runner and new faces playing every week. Niall O'Connor has regained the lead on the league table. Dan Bury won last weeks event and puts him into the top 10.

Cash Game available afterwards,50c/€1 blinds, rake 10% once a flop is seen capped at €10 per pot.

Finally, the Tuesday game in Jacobs Well, Rathdrum.

Each week they alternate between 2 games. 1 game is a €50 freezeout. starting stack is 62k (you are reading this correctly), blinds are 15/20 mins. no money kept behind all is paid out in prizefunds. starts at 8.30 and can run for a while with a stack this big!!

Their 2nd game is €30, with a €10 rebuy only for the first 3 levels. starting stack is not as big, i believe its around the 20k mark, and blinds are as above 15/20 mins.

Pot Limit cash game also runs when enough players are knocked out of the game.

Christmas Deepstack Tournament

Do you want to make a few quid before christmas? Keep Sunday the 23rd December free or put it in your diary. Depending on numbers, as there is no overlay (which i am capping at 50/60) the prizepool should hopefully be €3k. (€15 is Reg). I have had some interest in this so would like if people would confirm if they are interested in playing/will be there.

Niall O'Connor won best hand last week, with Bobby McGee taking the game itself, beating Niall O'Connor heads up. Bobby has had 2 runner up finishes in the last 2 weeks as well, so hes starting to fly up the table.

Cash game runs also, 50c - €1 NLH with 10% rake once a flop is seen and capped at €5, min buyin to cash game is €25

Tournament players are also part of a league for 2 UKIPT Cork tickets worth €770 each that takes place in February 2013. Top 9 players at the end of the league qualify for the final table and top 2 of final table win a ticket each. Players chipstacks are calculated based on the amount of points they accumulate throughout the league and there are already over 50 players on the league table. €40 is taken from the pot each week to make the money for the 2 tickets.

With over 50 players in the league, the action at the top is heating up. Larry, Reimo and Darek are nearly guaranteed a final spot already, as they have a monster lead, but the final 7 places are anybodys as its quite close!

This is a good game and usually always gets 2 full tables. As in 1 of my previous posts, I have taken over Chip & a Chair and will continue running the game the same way Craig did. Hope to see you all later.

Sunday Night Poker

Star Poker Bray

Kicks off at 8.00pm and you can register up to the end of the break at 9.30pm. Buy in is €20 (15 plus 5 reg). 10k starting stack and a 15 minute clock. Refreshments served throughout and sambos served on the break. This game is getting big numbers lately and could have anything up to 50 + players. Probably the 2nd biggest night to the Wednesday Game.

Cash Tables available when enough players are around to start. blinds are 25/50c, 10% rake once a flop is seen and capped at €3 per pot. I think the minimum you can buy onto cash for is €25 and the Maximum is €200

Star Poker Friday Night Results

Well Done to Zoli Keres, Rob Browne and Stephen Balfe who all split our Friday €25 Re-entry tournament. With 55 players tonight our top prize paid €440 and the top 6 got paid. No Jackpot winner so next Fridays Jackpot will be €770
