Okay 2 small reports from Wednesday and Thursday night in Star Poker Bray:

Wednesday Night:

Well done to Niall Carvel and Jason O'Brien who beat 60 other players to split our Wednesday €20 Freezeout. Top prize was €372 and top 6 were paid. There was no winner of our poker jackpot so it rolls over to next week.

Thursday Night:

Congratulations to Emmet Callanan for winning Thursdays €30 Scalp Tournament (41 players). He walked away with €328 but he didnt enter to win the jackpot, so it will roll over to next week.

Friday Night Around Wicklow

Poker Tonight is as follows:

Doyles Rathnew, starts at 8.00pm. Usually gets around 2 tables. €20 buy in and a starting stack of 2.5k and a 20 min clock. You can rebuy/topup 3 times and if your gone before the break you can buy a deadstack and the 3 topups for €50. All money taken in on the night goes back out in the prizefund. Thanks Peter for the Info. Hopefully get a few pictures of the action from this game to show what goes on.

The Kennedy inn, Newtown. Starts at 8.00pm, again this game gets 2 tables. €20 buy in with a rebuy/topup of €20. Starting stack of 10k, 20 min blinds. This as i have pointed out before is a good game. Theres no messing and the play is usually quite strong. If your a beginner this is not the place to learn your game!! again everything paid in goes out in preize money. Pictures and reports coming in from here now, thanks to clif.

Star Poker Bray, have their €25 (20 plus 5 reg) double chance tournie. Bust or be knocked out before the end of the first break at 9.30pm and you can rebuy for a further €25. Starts at 8.00pm and you can let reg up to 9.30pm. Starting stack of 10k, 15 min blinds and usually 30 plus runners. refreshments available throughout and hot food served at the break. Usually always get good pictures and reports from Marcin in Star.

Thursday's Tournaments/Games

Star Poker Bray, have the €30 (20 plus 5 reg & 5 scalp) scalp tournament tonight. Kicking off at 8.00pm, you can late register up to the end of the break at 9.30pm. Knock out any player and receive the €5 scalp. Starting stack of 10k and a 15 minute clock. Refreshments available throughout and hot food served at the break. Usually get 30 plus for this game. Think the fun is getting the scalps here rather than winning the tournament as play can usually get wild!!!

Cash table available usually after 10 and fill up quickly. 25/50c blinds, 10% rake once the flop is seen and capped at €3 per pot.

Finally, a nice friendly game (if thats what you would call it) in the Coach House Roundwood. Kicks off at 8.00pm, Buy in is €35 (20 buy in, 10 top up and 5 reg). If you dont take the top-up its €25. I think the starting stacks are 5k and the top is the same. Blinds are 15/20 mins whenever the clock is checked!! Hot food served on the break and usually get 2-3 tables. Sometimes even 30 players. Its a good game, good atmosphere and some good players. Not just for locals, some weeks this place has had 30 plus runners.

Best of luck at the tables.

Bad Beat/Moan/Vent you anger post

Okay I said a while back I would start a post and hopefully a few of you will comment/email me stories of your bad beats and ill post them up here for all to see.

For some reason the Poker Gods, every week they seem to put some goon (i wont call them donkeys or any other expletive) on the same table as me. Now im positive every one has there bad beat stories but jesus every week!!!

3 times in Bray now I have had the unfortunate bad beat experience. It seems when it comes to a flip, I never win. if im chasing something I never hit, Straights, Flushes, Full Houses, you name it, I should be so lucky!!!

One Thursday night, i was playing a scalp tournament with 18 people left and 5 players seen a flop. There was a small raise with 4 callers and I looked at Ace/Jack off and called to. The flop was Ace, 7 , 9 with 2 spades. The original raiser bet out, had 3 callers with me still to act, so i decided to push. I though hey all cant have Aces, So ill test and see and if im right, I rake in a 40k pot. Everyone folds except for the guy to my imemdiate right, who says I have nothing but a flush draw!! You can see where this is going cant you......
Anyway, he turns over King Queen spades (a calling hand) and hits runner runner queen queen to knock me out and win a 100k pot!! Monster chip leader and probably bully/put a lot of pressure on the remaining players. Sick was not the word, as I believe I got it in good and well the rest is history!

A Sunday Night me and my Brother Clif, decided to go in and try our luck. We both made the final table with a big stack and after 2 Hands and a raise and a call I wake up with Aces. I re-raise, the Guy to my left pushes all in, everyone folds and of course I cant get my chips in quick enough. Anyway, the river?!?!? you guessed it a 10! One guy at the end of the table starts laughing telling me he folded the other 10.

Last week in the €20 Freezeout in bray, I woke up with Kings when a short stack pushed with pocket 4s. Guess what hits on the river, Wahey, you guessed it again the CASE 4! The guy to my immediate right tells me he folded King 4!! WTF

And to top it all off, Last night in Bray, I had accumulated a nice stack and was well above average and I was dealt Ace King off. I raised 3 times the blind and everyone folded except for the TABLE GOON!! (Now im not usually one to rant but calling station is not the word) Anyway to cut a long story short, The flop was King, 3, 5. He bets I flat call. Now I thought I was trapping perfectly here, as I knew he hadnt got a King. The turn was a 2, he bets again, I call and the river a Queen. He pushes I Instacall and he shows 4, 6 off for a straight. he took 90% of my chips, as he was "defending his blind" BS no matter how high I raised he was calling, he is that type of player. I call them non-believers!! I was glad to give one of the guys a play poker with regulary my remaining chips as i was on massive tilt after that.

I have noticed on tables guys with all the small denomination chips. These are usually the guys to beware of, as it shows they play a lot of pots, or usually call just to see a flop, so this could be dangerous as it proved last night for me!! (bet you have heard that before). Like I said earlier in my post if I was to call whats the chances of me hitting, yet the same people seem to hit all the time!! Coincidence I think not. Some of these players are good in their own right, im definetly not saying they are not or even saying Im brilliant, because im far from it. But how do you change your game to win if your not hitting? Answer : by calling raises with 4,6 off? 9 times out of 10 you wont win. I believe in Karma and have also read many a times, you will have bad runs/bad beats for a while. Its up to you what way you come out of it, either a better player or 1 that constantly moans about losing and will never win, because of the negativity. But if there is a PKR god "Shine a Little Light on Me"

Now please post/comment/email me your stories or join the discussion, thats what the site is here for. RANT OVER...........ITS GOOD TO TALK

Last week had 60 plus and 2 weeks ago 84!! (Where would you see it)

Monday Night

Okay Guys, beacuse the Irish are going to Beat the Italians tonight and reclaim some pride in the European Championships, ALL POKER IS OFF!!

Chip & Chair poker that run the tournament on a Monday in The Olde Ship, Arklow, have advised that because the match is on, there will be no poker Tonight.

I would like to thank Conor from Chip & a Chair poker for joining the site and hopefully keep us updated with what is going on in his area.

Here are a few pictures of the setup in the Olde Ship:

I have played places where there has been a league run and the prizemoney at the end in some cases was okay, however there was one instance the money was terrible and didnt add up. In this instance I think the final table top 2 prize of a UKIPT Ticket is excellent, as most people wouldnt afford to pay €770 for a tournament and you get to play against some of the best in ireland.

Details of the Tournament in the old ship are as follows:

Buyin: €30 Freezeout (€25+5 reg) (Last Monday of each month they have €35 Scalp Freezeout)

Venue: The Old Ship, Arklow

9k starting stack

1k early bird

500 extra chips for confirming by text

20 min clock for first 6 levels, 15 min for the remaining levels

Complimentary food at the break for all players

Cash game runs also, 50c - €1 NLH with 5% rake and capped at €10, min buyin to cash game is €25

Tournament players are also part of a league for 2 UKIPT Cork tickets worth €770 each that takes place in February 2013.. Top 9 players at the end of the league qualify for the final table and top 2 of final table win a ticket each. Players chipstacks are calculated based on the amount of points they accumulate throughout the league and there are already 40 players on the league table. €40 is taken from the pot each week to make the money for the 2 tickets.

Thanks Conor for all the above and looking forward to your reports/pictures each week.

Friday Night in Bray

Small report from Star Poker Bray, Friday Night.

Well done to Philly McCormack! He won The Friday €25 Re-entry tournament. Top prize was €297 with top 4 getting paid. Philly beat a field of 33 players and took down the tourney with a 5 high flush against a 4 high flush! Friday's poker jackpot will roll over to next week!

Well Done Philly.

Sunday Night

Apologies in the late post:

Tonights action return to Star Poker Bray. Kicking off at 8.00pm, late registration runs up to 9.30pm. Buy in is €20 (15 plus 5 reg). 10k starting stack and 15 min blinds. Refreshments available throughout and sambos served on the break. Im not sure of the numbers but Star consistenly get 30 plus per night, so I am assuming the same.

Cash Tables Available afterwards, blind 25/50c, 10% rake once the flop is seen capped at €3 per pot.

Good luck at the tables.
