Eire Og Greystones Fundraiser

Eire Og, Greystones are holding a Texas Hold'em fundraiser on the 8th June 2012, in their GAA club. Buy in €25 (20 plus 5 reg) and you can rebuy for €10 (as this is a fundraiser I can only imagine its unlimited rebuys until the first break).

If you want any further information, Please contact the numbers on the attached flyer.

Thanks

I would like to post a Thank You for anyone that has helped/contributed to the site so far. I have had to ask around for a lot of details so a special thank you to those that have helped.

I have asked for most places to give me pictures and reports and so far its a work in progress but give it time and we will get there.

I am starting to receive emails etc about fundraisers and new tournaments so the site will have a lot to report on.

For now thanks to anyone that has helped/emailed/commented. Much appreciated.

Star Poker Bray, Thursday Night

Ill start off by thanking Marcin, the Poker Room Manager from Star Poker Bray. I have contacted most poker games around the county for updates and Marcin has provided me with the first report and Pictures. I believe reports and pictures are only going to add to the site and let people know exactly what is going on. Thanks again Marcin!

Last night Thursday's €30 Scalp Tournament pulled in 35 people with 1st place paying €280. Top five were paid. Congratulations to Lorenzo who won. He pushed all in with A8 to win the final hand when he made a pair of eights on the river.

A few Pictures of the tournament from last night:

Lorenzo the eventual winner with his back to the camera (hardly camera shy)?

The Winning Hand, as you can see it was an action flop for the 3,5 hearts!!

Well done Lorenzo and thanks to Star Bray, for the first report.

Friday is here and the Loonnngggg weekend has landed

Tonights Tournaments as follows:

Jack Whites Pub. I have been told by an ex employee that there is a game here on a friday night. I have been told its the locals and a few who venture out from Arklow to play. I believe the buy in may only be €10 so i dont believe its a serious game. If your around the area or the pub itself and looking for a friendly game, maybe this is for you.

Doyles Pub, Rathnew. Starts at 8/8.30pm, buy in is €20 with 3 top ups of €10 each. If you have used your rebuys and somehow lost your stack before the break, there is an option to but a deadstack and the 3 top-ups for €50 (have plenty of money just in case). Starting stack is 2.5k and for your rebuys you get 4k. There are 20 minute blinds. There is usually a cash game after the tournament or when there is enough players to start one and can run into the early hours. Im not sure what numbers they get but they usually get a table or two.

Next up The Kennedy Inn, Newtownmountkennedy. Again this starts at 8.00pm, €20 buy in, with a €20 top/up-rebuy. blinds are 20 mins and there is a starting stack of 10k. (Nothing better than a cheap game and deepstack). Usually have 2 tables and the game can be held upstairs in the private room, though the last few weeks it has been held in the lounge as it attracts a few players who like to have a drink! Good game & some good players. Everything paid in goes into prizefund, nothing left behind.

Finally, Star Poker Bray, have their €25 re-entry tournament. Bust before the end of the first break (9.30pm)and you can rebuy for €25 (20 plus 5 reg). Starting stack of 10k, and 15 min blinds. Tournament starts at 8.00pm. Refreshment available throughout and free food on the break. (Thanks to Marcin in Star Poker, I was advising people they only get Sambos every night, but he informs me hot food served here thursday, friday and saturday, sambos only on a wednesday and sunday! Thanks Marcin). Usually get 30 plus players, and cash tables usually get going around 10.

Good luck at the tables wherever you decide to go.

Bank Holiday Sunday Night

2 Tournaments to remind you again of Bank Holiday Sunday Night. Usually Ill post on the day but seeing as 1 is a fundraiser and 1 is the End of Month Ill remind you as much as possible up to the day of the tournament.

End of Month Star Poker Bray, 3rd June 2012: Starts at 2.30pm, Late reg up to 4.30pm, €75 EOM deepstack (65 plus 10 fee). Starting stack 20k, with a 25 min clock up to the break, and 30 minute clock after that. Was told last night may get 50/60 plus for this and can run up to 12pm depending on numbers.

Finally, Wicklow Sail fest are running a fundraising Poker tournament in the grand Hotel. Details below as per the previous flyer.

Thursday and the Rain is back

Tonights Tournaments:

Star Poker Bray are holding a €30 scalp (20 plus 5 reg 5 scalp) tournament. Kicking off at 8.00pm, late registration is up to the end of the break at 9.30pm. Knock out someone and receive their €5 scalp chip. 10k starting stack and 15 min blinds. I believe the get about 30/40 plus players for this. As in my last post, last night there was 82 runners, so you will never know how many will show up!! refreshments served throughout and food (sambos) available at the break. A good tournament but I heard it can get a bit crazy as everyone is after your bounty!

And Finally, off to the Coach House, Roundwood. Play starts at 8.00pm, Starting stack is 5k, and the top up/rebuy is for the same amount. Buy in €35, this includes your rebuy topup, if not I believe its €25. (20/30 into the fund and 5 for reg). Blinds are 15/20 mins and usually attracts 2 tables, though as in previous posts it can get 30 plus. Hot food (free) available on the break (chips/sausage/chicken). Its also in the Lounge in the pub so you can drink too, not to sure if thats a good idea though. Good friendly game, friendly atmosphere and some decents players.

Good luck at the tables.

Last night in Bray.

This is only a snippet of Last night. I ventured into Bray, and played the €20 freezeout. First few hands I won, then had a big hand with a set of 6s over a set of 2s, Both on the flop, so how my good friend Pat didnt go broke is beyond me! (he did go broke shortly after as he pushed on a King, Queen, 8 flop, with 7,2 off and was snap called by some maniac with aces!!!) I was building up a nice stack and lost a third of it, when with Ace King hearts i got raised preflop, called and hit 2 hearts on the flop only to miss my flush. I believe if this had of been the other way around and he had the Ah,Kh i would have been creamed!!!

I finally went out when i pushed with 8s to be called by 9s and they held. Out in a disappointing 30/31, but the talking point was how many showed up. 82 (Eighty Two) people decided to try their luck and I have to say for a €20 tournament this was a great turnout plus make the final table and you were in the money as they paid out 9 places. Play eventually ended at 2.30 (according to Jason) when there was a 4 way chop for about €240 each.

I for once played the cash game and was running well, particulary in a pot for about €120 when on the turn I hit 2 pair, to be rivered by a set. 2 Cash tables were full and a third was nearly started.

A good nights poker, only complaint was the Heat!! it was like the air conditioning was blowing hot air, maybe with the low roof it didnt help, but it can be off putting.

WSOP

Dont forget the WSOP have started and you can follow all the action on www.WSOP.com. 4 events nearly finished so it will be interesting to see who gets the bracelets.

I noticed one of the guys from the UK JP Kelly, who plays the UKIPT circuit was running well in the $1000 NLH tournament, with only 17 left.

Ive also noticed from twitter a good contingent of Irish Players are heading over, (a lot of them have sold 50% stake into the bigger tournaments) Dara O'Kearney, Jason Tomkins to name but a few.

Anyway, this site is usually only about poker in Wicklow, but today im making an exception!!

Wednesday is Here......

Wednesday is here, the sun is still shining and the poker is back with a bang!

Tonight Star Poker Bray, have their cheap buy in tournament for €20 (15 plus 5 reg). Starts at 8pm, and late registration is available up to the end of the break at 9.30pm. Starting stack of 10k and 15 min blinds. Antes kick in after the break. Refreshments available throughout and sambos also available at the break. Last week there was 60 runners, The weeks before 56 & 55 respectively. What more could you ask for. As I have said before its a great value tournament and wont break the bank, if your looking for a cheap game or a game to learn/hone your skills then this should be your tournament. There are a wide range of players, from maniacs to tight and some very aggressive players. Theres a good mix.

Cash tables usually kick in after 10 and they fill up fairly fast, 25/50c blinds. Watch out for the players only arriving for the cash table!!!! you have been warned ;-)

Monthly Deepstack

Okay, this is the big one. Star Poker Bray, Sunday @ 2.30pm, with late registration up to 4.30pm. The End of Month €75 (65 plus 10 fee), 20k starting stack, with a 25 minute clock up to the break and a 30 min clock after the break.

I have never entered an end of month, but if its like the Fitz or any other poker room I can only assume it attracts big numbers. The end of month is what most players wait for.

Refreshments available throughout and I am assuming food available at the break (if this is not the case I apologise, as they do it for every other tournament)

I believe a deepstack tournament with a clock of 25/30 mins is excellent and should have a decent prizepool to.

BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY

I have just been informed that Wicklow Sail Fest are running a Poker Tournament this Bank Holiday Sunday Night.

The above is the flyer from the last tournament!!

It starts at 8.00pm - registration from 7.30pm with an early bird chip up to 8.00pm, in the Grand Hotel Wicklow Town.Buy in is €30 with a €10 buy back

(There was a tournament on the May bank holiday for the same Wicklow Sail Fest and I believe there was unlimited rebuys, so not all the money goes into the pot as its in aid of the wicklow sail fest)

Finger food and table prizes on the night. Full details available here:

http://www.roundirelandsailfest.ie/home/55-latest-news/148-texas-holdem-poker-tournament-wicklow.html

It will be all quite on the Night

Another quite night on the Poker Scene tonight. There are no tournaments that I am aware of. I am waiting on confirmation of a Poker Game in Jacobs Well, Rathdrum that may be held on a Tuesday Night, Im not sure if this is just a local thing, or if you can show up and play. The same applies to a game in Jack Whites, that they seem to hold on a Friday Night. Again my sources have told me its the locals that play and a few people venture out from Arklow.

(In other words, with both theses games Im not sure if they will accept "Blow ins", its to be confirmed)

With pub games, I couldnt see it being a problem as the Pub itself would get the publicity and Im sure the extra people playing would be having a drink or three, Which the pub will be happy to accept the cash!! Its the people that sometimes play in these games that have the problem. (though not always the case, sometimes the more the merrier)

Anyway once I hear ill Post/Comment. Just a little reminder Star Poker, Bray are having their End of Month deepstack tournament this Sunday, Ill post details later on and Everyday until the event has passed. (Ill plug the end of month every day of the week leading up to it)

Okay, thats all for now. Ill post info on the EOM later. Ciao

Wednesday in Bray.

So last Wednesday myself and my Brother decided to go to Bray for their €20 tournament. There was 60 runners, 6 tables which I think is brilliant for a Wednesday Night. The €20 buy in is cheap and its getting the big numbers. We both ran into big hands early on, and lost 1/2 and 3/4 of our stacks respectively. I believe to do well in this tournament you need a big stack early on and unfortunately for both of us not matter how we tried we were always just under the average.

The last time I played here on a wednesday I was moved about 6 times and once after I had played 2 Hands!!!! This week We didnt move until there was half the field left, though it didnt do me or my brother any good.

I went out in 22nd, disappointed as i flopped top pair on my all-in to be outkicked.

Still worth checking out a Wednesday night as its value for money.

The start of another week.

Nothing to report on the Poker front today. There are no tournaments that I am aware of, however if there is one on please feel free to tweet/email/comment.

Ill start plugging the End of Month in Bray this Sunday. Details to follow. Also report on how I got on in Bray last Wednesday. Hopefully I will be getting pictures from the final tables of the tournaments each night, which will add a little bit more to the site.

Cheers!

Biased.....me???

Hopefully when people read the blog or comment, they dont think im pulling for one Poker room/Tournament.

The thing about this blog is I will tell it as it is. Im not going to Disrespect any poker room/tournament/pub game, but Im also going to tell you the truth, thats what we are here for.

If you feel im always pulling for Star Poker or The game in newtown, im not!! In my opinion, Star Poker in Bray is a quality poker room, good structures, (apart from the 30 min break, my only complaint on Bray)and its cheap and gets big numbers.
Newtown, its a good serious game, very little messing, and the standard of play is pretty high.

Finally the last part here is there are not a lot of games around Wicklow. Im waiting on details on games in Arklow and rathdrum, and I am also awaiting details from the poker tournaments, where I get reports/pictures and can let people see who is winning and where.

Please feel free to comment.

The end is near

Only one tournament to report on tonight and its is Star Poker Bray.

Starting at 8pm, you can register up to the end of the first break at 9.30pm. Buy in is €20 (15 plus 5 reg). 10k starting stack, 15 min blinds and refreshments available throughout with food at the break. Im not sure of how many runners, but I played here a while back and there was about 35. The sun and good weather could play havoc with this as well.

good luck at the tables
