Sunny Saturday

Hope you all enjoyed the sun and are red raw(or red hot) before you hit the tables!!!!

Saturday is here and tonight we are back to the Number 1 poker room on the East Coast, Star Poker Bray.

(This is what my chips looked like at a recent tournament) NOT MUCH!!!

Saturdays tournament is the same as the Friday Night. Starts at 8pm, its the €25 (20 plus 5 reg) Rebuy/topup tournament. Rebuy/Topup is possible only if your knocked out before the break at 9.30pm. Starting stack is 10k, 15 min blinds. Refreshments available throughout and food available at the break. Im not sure of the amount of runners, but have been told its over 30.

Best of Luck at the tables if you decide to pull yourself away from the beer garden....

The weekend has landed.....

First up on the agenda tonight is the Kennedy Inn, Newtown.

Starting at 8.00pm, Buy in is €20 with a top up/rebuy of €20. Starting stack of 10k and top up/rebuy of the same amount, with 20 minute blinds. This has been in the lounge for the last 2 weeks, but is usually upstairs in a private room. This is a good game, with a good structure and some good players too. This is my Favourite game out of every where I play. Everything that goes into the pot goes straight back out, nothing is left behind. If your looking for a good game, this is the place, plus you can enjoy a pint as well (if it helps ease the nerves!!). last week there was 2 table approx 17 players.

Next we move onto StarPoker Bray.

Friday Nights are the €25 Re-entry tournament. If you get knocked out before the end of the first break (9.30pm) you can rebuy/re-enter for another €25. (20 plus 5 reg). Starting stack of 10k and 15 minute blinds the tournament starts at 8pm. Refreshments available throughout and free food at the break. Usually 30 plus players for this.

Finally, Doyles in Rathnew have their weekly game.

Kicks off at 8/8.30pm, buy in is €20, with 3 top ups of €10 each, maximum of 3 rebuys/topups. If by chance you are dead before the end of the break you have the option to rebut one of the deadstacks and all the top ups for €50. I am not sure of the stacks, blinds etc, but they usually get 2 tables and a cash game that can go on a while afterwards.

Best of luck wherever you decide to go.

Thursday Tournaments

Tonight we have 2 tournaments that I am aware off. Starting off first in the Coach House, Roundwood.

The buy in is €35 (this is for the double chance too) I think €5 is for registration or they do something at the end of the year with it, if you dont take your top up I believe its still €25. The starting stack is about 5k, and if your early there may be an early bird chip too. The blinds are 15 mins, and sometimes they go to 20 mins (especially near the end of the night). Usually gets about 2 tables, though there have been weeks where there was 30 plus playing! This is a friendly atmosphere kind of game, with a bit of banter and craic. If this is what you are looking for this is the place, though beware there are a few sharks here too..........

Finally its off to Star Poker, Bray. Tonight its the scalp tournament

Buy in is €30 (20 plus 5 reg and 5 scalp), never mind winning the tournament, knock out as many people as you can and see how much you can win!! Starts at 8.00pm, 15 min blinds, and a starting stack of 10k. Late reg up to 9.30 (end of break) refreshments available throughout and food served at the break. I believe the number could be anything off 30/40 plus. Cash tables usually start after 10ish or when there are enough knocked out waiting to play.

Dont have to much bad to say about Bray, good starting stack, good structure and one of the best poker rooms around.

Back in Action

Wednesday is here, and we are back in action. Tonight its the cheap game in Star Casino Bray. €20 buy in (Great value, if you dont want to break the bank, with a big field), 10k starting stack and 15 min blinds. Starts at 8pm and you can register up to the end of the first break at 9.30pm. Complimentary refreshments (tea, coffee, minerals) throughout and free food at the break. Last week it had 56 runners and the week before I think had 55. Not bad for a Wednesday night, but also not bad on your pocket. I have said before if your looking to sharpen up, learn the game, this is the tournament for you. You wont go broke on €20 and there are all kind of players here.

Cash tables are available afterwards, 25/50c blinds. Im not sure of the Rake, but I have also spotted certain individuals only showing up for the cash(usually after 10pm). Good luck at the tables..............

Friday Madness on the River

Friday, I played the weekly game at The Kennedy Inn, Newtown. It started at 8, and I arrived about 8.25. There was I believe about 16/17 runners and a few of the usuals were not there, with 2/3 new faces to.

Up to the break and indeed the final table everything was going to plan, I had about 30% of the chips on my table. There was 2 bigger stacks when we got to the final table and then the madness started. I went out in 6th, and the 4 before me had the same fate!!

I know you hear "another bad beat" etc etc, well this is what it was. 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th, and myself all had the blues.

Here are a few examples: (Im not including surnames, when I name a player)

Jason who was short stacked and was the big blind with only 3k behind and blinds were 2k/4k at this stage was dealt jacks, and was called by 2 people. The board was 8,8,4,10 (no picture cards) and then Paddy hit his king on the river to knock Jason out.

Myself I limped with 3s, with 2 callers. Flop came 3h, Kd, Qd. My brother Clif decided to go all in, so of course i couldnt get my chips in the middle quick enough. He turns over 7d, 9d looking to hit his Diamond, which of course he duly hit on the river!!

When I finally pushed I got 2 callers. Craig pushed on an Ace high flop and Greg duly folded. Craig turned over q,10 off and I showed my K,J off to be in great shape and all set for a triple up but no the river decides Craig needs a 10 and bye bye me!!

Another hand, there was a 3 way all in. Clif took his time as Greg had pushed, only to be called by Paddy (This confused Clif a bit as he was snap calling Greg, but Paddy put a spanner in the works). When clif finally called he was in great shape as Greg had Ac, Jc, Paddy had AJ off and Clif showed AQ off. Once again another bad beat came on the turn as Greg filled his flush to go straight into the chip lead, knock Clif out and leave Paddy with a chip and a chair, which he duly lost next hand as he pushed all in without even looking. Paddy turned over Q,8 off and Moira's Ace high took the chips in this race.

It wasnt only the final table that had bad beats as earlier in the night on the opposite table, Geraldine raised preflop with Jacks to get called by Greg and his 8,2 off I believe. Even with a bet on the flop Greg didnt believe and when he hit his set on the turn it was bye bye geraldine.

I left once there was 4 left but I believe Robert and Greg chopped for €200 each. 4 places were paid, 4th got their money back and 3rd double their buy in.

1=. Greg
1=. Robert
3. Moira
4. Craig
5. Paddy
6. Trevor
7. Clif
8. Betty
9. Jean
10. Jason

One last Hurrah

Sunday night is here, and the weekend is nearly over. One more tournament to finish the weekend in style and no suprise its Star Poker Bray.

Starting at 8.00pm, tonight is a freeze out tournament, with a buy in of €20 (15 plus 5 reg). Starting stack of 10k, with a 15 minute clock. Late registration up to 9.30.

Refreshments availabe throughout and food also available at the break.

Last time I played here on a Sunday, it had about 35 runners, and I believe its nearly the same if not more.

Good luck at the tables if you decide to venture into Bray.
